🔍 How to Search a Subreddit on Reddit

This tutorial covers how to search within a specific subreddit using both desktop and mobile platforms.

🖥️ On Desktop (Browser)

  1. Go to the Subreddit
    Navigate to the subreddit you want to search.
    Example: https://www.reddit.com/r/GLiNet/
  2. Use the Search Bar at the Top
    At the top of the page, you’ll see a search bar.
  3. Type Your Keywords
    Enter what you’re looking for (e.g., wireguard setup, Flint 2 VPN).
  4. Important: Restrict to This Subreddit Only
  • After typing your search, press Enter.
  • On the results page, look for a filter bar just below the search input.
  • Click “Posts” if needed, and check that the filter says in r/YourSubredditName.
  • If it doesn’t, use the format:
    search term site:reddit.com/r/YourSubredditName
  • Or include subreddit:GLiNet in your search query.

📱 On the Reddit Mobile App

  1. Open the Reddit App and go to the desired subreddit.
  2. Tap the magnifying glass (🔍) icon at the top.
  3. Enter your search keywords.
  4. Tap the filter at the top labeled “All” and select “Posts in r/YourSubreddit”.

  • Use quotes " " for exact matches

  • Use + for required terms
    Example: Flint +VPN
  • Use - to exclude words
